We continuously work with many stakeholders on a future-proof, sustainable role for technology in the city of Ghent. Our approach and combined with our diverse background, knowledge, experience and skills enables us to demonstrate the opportunities and dangers of technology and embrace the long term.
The Foresight team and Open Time's future explorers are happy to take you to future times. 2040 was chosen as the horizon because the reality of a city government is that changes happen slowly. Looking far ahead allows us to make conscious and ambitious choices today.
Urban Data Birds is an internet-of-things project aimed at monitoring waterbirds, in the case of Ghent the common tern. By setting up an artificial island in the "Houtdok" where these birds can nest and rest, we created the ideal environment for automated monitoring of waterbirds.
